Slab Fixed Length Cutting

The COSM classifies and optimizes the actual production conditions, determining the best cutting scheme for each flow of billets to be cut to a fixed length, reducing non-fixed lengths and increasing the yield of molten steel.  Scope of application: Continuous casting machines for various billet types such as large and small square billets, large and small round billets, slabs, and special-shaped billets.


Production Process:

  • Before the pouring begins, formulate the cutting plan as required;

  • During the pouring process, the cutting is optimized and controlled in real time based on the weight of the ladle and the length of the billet in strands. For different production events, the slicing method is used to output, and the optimized cutting plan is recalculated and compensated. The mixed production events such as remove billets and mixed-cast billets on cutting can be promptly eliminated based on the judgment results of the systems II of cont’ casting  -  quality tracking and steel mixing models.

  • During the tail billet casting stage, the optimal solution is obtained through model calculation to achieve the combined cutting of the lengths of the billets on the casting flow, minimizing the length of the non-fixed-length billets.

Slab Cutting System


Technical Features:

  • Strong adaptability, multi-computing can be freely switched with different production conditions;

  • System covers production factors, the model calculation is accurate, and the control is safe and stable.

  • It has good compatibility and can be seamlessly integrated with quality tracking and determination systems or digital twin systems.

  • Combination of machine vision & AI enables real-time tracking and measurement of the position & quantity , then transfer and steel pushing instructions are generated. Relying on the auto control of all equipment in the after cutting and off-line area, fully automatic billet output control is achieved.

  • Digital control of output process, record the billet sizing, casting speed, billet S/N, cutting time, billet output time and offline time, etc., create a production database to achieve efficient data traceability.

  • It can be linked with the crane system and combined with intelligent crane technology to achieve full-process automatic control of the billet production operation.
