Apron Skid - Cooling Bed Charging Mechanism

Apron entrance roller table with bars natural friction braking and with double channels entry way in order to manage high speed rolling. It also features a layer forming system with step by step transfers to form desired width products layers with defined space between each bar/profile.

The bars enter the cooling bed from the Entry Roller Table, equipped with lifting aprons and with sloping rollers and entry chutes which brake and discharge them onto the cooling grids forming a continuous surface on which they start to cool down.

The apron guide system in the apron cooling bed steel equipment of the production line is often unstable. The bevel, large side and pin holes of the skirt are seriously worn, and the long shaft system of the skirt is vibrating greatly.


By reducing the elevation of the accelerating roller surface, the downward motion of the skirt plate is increased by 40mm, which solves the problem of the steel bar jumping out of the groove. The service life of the skirt bevel and the large side, the guide bevel and the single-tooth straightening plate are increased by grooving alloy strips. The vibration of the skirt long axis system is reduced by moving the support of the skirt cylinder close to the lower support of the roller table beam. The maintenance time of skirt system is reduced and the operation rate is increased.


Cooling Bed Type

The cooling bed is one of the indispensable auxiliary equipment for small and medium-sized bar workshops. Its function is to cut the bar of multiple feet length by flying shears after rolling mill, transport and unload it to the cold bed rack for cooling, so that its temperature is reduced from 900℃ to 100 ~ 300℃, and then collected by the cold bed feeding device and sent to the output roller, and then sent to the output roller to the cold shear cut into a size of finished products. The design quality and installation accuracy of the cold bed directly determine the final quality of the product.


Cooling Bed Charging System:

  1. Twin-Channel Bar Receiving Mechanism:

    operated either by Hydraulic or by Electro-Mechanical Drive through DC Motors. The Flappers are made from SG Iron Material, giving excellent wear resistance and long life.

  2. 2/4-Channel Bar Kick-off Mechanism (Pneumatic):

    This type of Bar Handling system is used for Rolling Mills with 1/2 Strand Billet Rolling. its common used in steel plant.
  3. 2/4-Channel Bar Kick-off Mechanism (Closed type):

    This type of Bar Handling system is used for Rolling Mills with 2 Strand Billet Rolling. for the high speed rolling as in 30m/s.
  4. Braking Slide(Pneumatic) / Hydraulic Apron Type:
    This type of Bar Receiving mechanism is widely used for Merchant Mills producing both Sections and TMT Bar as well as Light Section Mill.
  5. Rotary Drum Type:
    This type of mechanism is using for the high speed rolling as in 45m/s.



Cooling Bed Cooling System:
  1. Rake Type Automatic Cooling Bed (Walking Beam):
    Automatic rake type cooling beds are highly automated, ensuring transfer of material by one pitch for every rake movement.
  2. Chain Transfer Cooling Bed:
    Chain type cooling beds are highly automated, ensuring transfer of material by shifting certain distance. Used for Heavy Sections such as Big Angles, Channel, and I Beams.
  3. Claw Type Cooling Bed:
    Claw type cooling beds are highly automated, ensuring transfer of material by shifting certain distance, by the pinion and cam shaft. Used for Heavy Sections such as Big Angles, Channel, and I Beams.
